 Dr. Charles E. Semler

Capsule Bio:
Dr. Semler has been involved in the Refractory Industry for more than 30 years. He started with Harbison-Walker Refractories Co, and then became Director of Refractories Research Center at Ohio State University, for 12 years. During the last 15 years, he has worked as an independent refractories consultant, assisting more than 200 companies worldwide. He has published 100 papers, holds four patents, and has given several hundred lectures worldwide. Dr. Semler is a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society, and has also served as Refractories Division Chairman and Vice President. He is a distinguished Life Member of UNITCER, which he helped to found, received the Planje-St. Louis Refractories Award, and was elected to the International Academy of Ceramics.

     Dr. Michel Rigaud

    Capsule Bio:
    Dr. Michel Rigaud is a Professor at Ecole Polytechnique, University of Montreal, since 1966. Dr. Rigaud is also Director of the Chair on Industrial Refractories (CIREP) of Ecole Polytechnique, since 1989. Dr. Rigaud's research interests are presently centered on the development of refractory products and processes related to the steel, copper and cement industries. He has published some 150 scientific papers, has edited four books in the field of refractory materials and has been granted 3 patents. Dr. Rigaud is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, the American Ceramic Society, the Canadian Ceramic Society and the ASM International. Dr. Rigaud is also a member of the Standing Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce of the ICC International Center for Expertise.
